Creating Stylish Business-Casual Outfits

By Ruby M

This one’s for the soon-to-be boss ladies and CEOs, the client-facing workers, and the office-bound girls. It’s tedious wearing the identical boring suits every day, and sometimes it’s nice to mix it up a bit and wear something a little bit more on the smart-casual side of business wear. We’re going through some of our favorite appropriate business casual outfits and staples that any working woman should have in their closet in this list.

Corduroy, Cotton or Twill

Corduroy, cotton or twill pants, or appropriate length skirts are must-haves for a smart-casual look. These materials are robust and of better quality than many other affordable fabric options and are easy to clean and store. They can usually be matched with almost any shirts and are great for casual outings as well.

Closed-Toed Shoes

It is often expected to wear closed-toed shoes in the workplace. A simple set of kitten heels or higher if you wish is great for smart and casual affairs. If your workplace allows sandals or peep-toe shoes, we recommend investing in a quality pair – after all, people often judge you by the shoes you wear.

Quality Carryalls

Instead of carting around a handbag or purse, a laptop bag, and your lunch – it may be better to invest in good quality, professional-looking bag that is big enough to fit all of your belongings – especially if you’re traveling far to get to work every day. A good quality carryall should be able to pass as an extra-large handbag as well and should not break with the weight of your goodies- so don’t go for the cheapies on this one.

A Nice Blouse

Opting for an elegant yet simple blouse or button-up made up from delicate fabrics, with small details, are super easy to glam up or down, depending on the occasion. They’re an excellent option for the office and can easily be dressed up with a well-fitted blazer. Pastel colors or classic colors can both go well nicely. Just make sure your bottoms compliment the top!
